Meet Rahbin Shyne
By Britny Montano | Temecula, CA
This month we encourage the IHS community to #CatalyzeCourage by speaking about mental health/self care. We had the privilege during our monthly Cup of Courage event to hear some beautiful poetry by the inspirational Rahbin Shyne.
A little about Rahbin
Rahbin wears many inspirational hats not only in her professional but her personal life. She aims to inspire the world around her as an avid half-marathon walker, author, speaker, doodler, poet, mindfulness advocate, educator, and advocate for living a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Her blog has a world of inspiration waiting for you to tap into!
It all started on a whim April 7, 2018. Rahbin decided to challenge herself to write one poem a day for 365 days regardless of her mood or the events of that day. She's working on developing a habit of complete artistic freedom expressing her thoughts and feelings. During the Cup of Courage event we heard many pieces about love, history, being a woman, dreams, and self-worth. Her writing aims to be present and more honest about her feelings.
Poem #99 of 365
Risk it all. Failure is unremarkable. Join the ranks.
Worst case scenario, your dreams come true.
A Healthier YOU
Another big goal Rahbin is in the process of accomplishing is walking 100 half-marathons. With a little over 25% of the way to her goal, she is showing the world that a fabulous woman in her 50's can walk her way into a healthier lifestyle that keeps her focused in the other areas of her life that are mentally and emotionally demanding.
In addition to living a healthier lifestyle, Rahbin is passionate about educating others about adding supplements to their diets and about the harmful chemicals often used in household and skin care products. Her video below has some great info if you're looking into switching up your product purchases!
As an educator Rahbin teaches government, law, and US history classes to junior and senior high school students at risk of not graduating. She accepts the challenges these classroom settings may create by believing in and inspiring her students. Rahbin hopes her efforts are transformed into one finding their own voice and learning how to reflect it positively into the world. Her students, in return, have taught her how to patiently peel back the difficult layers to find a human in need of her compassion and heart full of good intentions.
If you'd like to keep up with Rahbin's many endeavors you can follow her blog, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Instagram pages. Thank you Rahbin for sharing your beautiful heart, raw poetry, and vision for a healthier, more open world!
