Just a Little Self Love

Being a student, family member, partner, parent, working and a badass chica can be, well, stressful. Let alone trying (sometimes) to look good while you’re attempting to keep all this life stuff together. Here are a few ideas to incorporate into your daily routine when you need some refueling in the midst of the crazy.
Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.
Of course everyone reminds you to drink 1,000 gallons of water a day to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Well, sorry water, but that can start tasting a little boring. Try these infused water combos to add some flavaaa and extra vitamins to your bottle.
Stretch those limbs
Whether you’re running between classes, sitting at a desk all day, or on your feet at work, take a few minutes to stretch it out. If you’re at a desk all day and need a little pick me up try these office yoga tips you can do right in your chair. If you have some time to spare, find a quiet place where you potentially can get a little weird reaching for those toes.
Spread the love
When your self esteem levels feel a little depleted use reverse psychology on yourself and compliment the badass chica next to you. Everyone can always use those lovely, “Great question in class today,” or “That shade of (whatever) looks great on you,” comments. Start a chain reaction of positivity and feel good knowing you could have just made that person’s day. Rule #1: keep it genuine.
Schedule a little “Me Time”
In the midst of the daily grind set aside a few scheduled minutes to just be. Whether you mediate, go for a walk, close your eyes, or enjoy a cup of coffee, make time to be screenless. Use those few minutes to reset. Set an alarm if you have to remind yourself. No snoozing allowed!
Keep the tunes handy
We all have those songs with the magic ability to get our souls fist pumping. Put them into a playlist and listen to it as you get ready for the day, in between tasks, during a low energy moment in the day, or on your way to work. Let the melodies remind you you’re going to kick the next task’s butt!
Stick to the +
Everyone has those coworkers, friends, or classmates that hardly have anything positive to say. Sometimes we get sucked into that negative energy putting an unnecessary dip in our mood. If you’re in a particular kinda mood, try avoiding these people. If that isn’t an option make a conscious effort to redirect the conversation. Create the positive vibe around you if you didn't enter one.
You’re thinking, “Duh - I know.” I’m thinking on a smaller scale for quick energy. On your way out the door have things like fruit, nuts, granola bars, or pre-packaged veggie sticks ready to go with you. If you’re into snack/meal prepping try these ideas. Avoid the hangry when time doesn’t permit a full meal.
