CATALYST SHOOT: LIZZY OKORO
So, for those of us not lucky enough to have met you yet, tell us a little about yourself.
I am born and bred in Los Angeles. While living in New York in 2011, I decided to launch my own print magazine called Bunch. We focused on giving business advice to creatives and sharing the success stories of those who had built their dream careers. In addition to a physical print magazine we had a digital platform and creative agency. I stepped down last year to pursue launching a second company, YesRally - a web and mobile app helping women reach wellness that will be launching very, very soon.
Why do you do what you do?
I love people and the human experience. I feel that we're all here to connect and learn from each other which is why community building is so important to me and is always a part of my business endeavors.
The Catalyst Shoot was a unique experience where we highlighted incredible women and an object that reflected how they #CatalyzeCourage. What was your object and why?
My object was my journal. I've kept a journal ever since I was a little girl. It is my therapy, my safe haven, and my life's testament. A few years ago, I found an old journal from when I was 13 years old. In it, I chronicled in detail how I would one day own my own magazine. To think that some years later, I would actually own one just shows how powerful your own thoughts can be. So in a lot of ways my journal is also my vision board for the future.
What does “catalyze courage” mean to you?
Activating your own power even in the face of fear and doubt.
What advice would you tell your 17 year old self?
What’s one “give” you can offer up to the InHerShoes community reading this?
I'm fortunate enough to have made lots of mistakes in business. It is because of those mistakes that I have learned all the hard lessons and I'm happy to share them with you so that you don't have to make them, too! If you need help, if you need advice, if you need introductions to other people to expand your network - I'm your girl!
What’s one “ask” you have of the InHerShoes community?
To follow @yesrally on Instagram 😄
What would you do if you were 1% more courageous?
Stop telling myself no.
You're incredible! What's the best way for people to contact you or get to know you more?

BONUS! If you could have dinner with anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Harriet Tubman. If you want to talk about someone who catalyzed courage in a big way, she is that person!
